A fugitive wanted in connection with a deadly shooting in Tennessee this year was captured Monday after he fell from the roof of a Memphis home where he had been hiding, federal authorities said.
Deario Wilkerson, 20, who was unharmed, was taken into custody without incident on charges of first-degree murder and reckless use of a dangerous weapon in connection with the April 2 killing of Troy Cunningham northeast of Memphis, the U.S. Marshals Service said in a news release.
The agency's task force located Wilkerson and surrounded him as he tried to hide in an attic, the release said.
Wilkerson was one of three suspects identified in Cunningham's murder, which the Shelby County District Attorney's Office said occurred when the suspects stole Cunningham's gun and shot him.
Cunningham was shot in the back of the head as he attempted to flee, the prosecutor's office said in a news release.
Two other suspects have already been arrested and charged, the prosecutor's office said. An arrest warrant was issued for Wilkerson in May.
It was unclear Tuesday whether Wilkerson had an attorney to speak on his behalf. No attorney was named in court records.
