Orioles announcer upset that Yankees weren't warned about star hitting

The drama continued in the Yankees-Orioles series.

A day after Aaron Judge and Gleyber Torres were hit by their American League rivals, Baltimore shortstop Gunnar Henderson was hit in the front shoulder by Yankees reliever Victor Gonzalez in the seventh inning of the Orioles' 7-6, 10-inning victory in the Bronx on Wednesday night.

MASN announcers Kevin Brown and Brett Hollander both believed a warning should have been issued, especially after what happened between the two teams yesterday, including Henderson receiving a pitch up-and-in from Yankees hurler Nestor Cortes.

“He was right up and in and [home plate umpire] Gabe Morales has to warn them now, everybody’s screaming for it,” Hollander said as Henderson walked toward first base.

Brown said Henderson handled everything that happened in the last two games with a lot of composure.

“Gunnar Henderson handled the situation very maturely yesterday, and he’s still handling it very maturely, no matter what happened,” Brown said. “Gabe Morales didn’t warn anyone off the bench — I’m very surprised by that.”

Brown then reflected on the Yankees' prospects and explained why he It is possible The young infielder was hit by the ball, and although the play-by-play man said he obviously wasn’t 100 percent sure the Bronx Bombers did it on purpose, he said if they did, it was a total disgrace.

“That’s what we would say, if the Yankees were thinking about doing something like that, down three points [runs] With the bases empty in the seventh, that’s the time you can do that. And if he did that, and if he intentionally threw the ball to Gunnar Henderson, shame on him, obviously.”

Earlier on Wednesday, Orioles starter Dillon Tate said the Yankees’ frustration with Judge getting hurt and injuring his hand in the process was “justified.”

Orioles manager Brandon Hyde also said he didn’t want to see any players on either team lose.

“I think unfortunately getting hit is a horrible part of the game, and I don’t think anybody wants to see anybody get hit,” Hyde said before his team’s extra-innings win. “I don’t want to see their players get hit. I don’t want to see my players get hit.

“When something like this happens — because it probably does happen in New York, it’s a little bit of a big deal — but we don’t want that to happen.”

Henderson finished the game 1-4 with 2 runs scored.
