New Delhi: Former Pakistan captain Younis Khan has criticised star batsman Babar Azam and other players for prioritising individual gains over team goals. Babar's recent form and leadership have been heavily criticised by former players as he has not scored a single half-century in his last 16 Test innings.
Expressing his disappointment, Younus said, “If Babar and other top players perform well on the field, the results will be clear to everyone. Our players play less and talk more.”
The former captain also advised Babar to learn from Virat Kohli's example and pointed out how the India star batsman had given up captaincy to focus more on his batting.
Younis said, “Look at Virat Kohli. He decided to leave captaincy on his own terms and now he is breaking records all over the world. This shows that playing for the country should be a priority. If you have any energy left, play for yourself.”
Younis stressed the importance of Babar's role as captain and said he needed to focus on his performance.

He reminded Babar that he was made captain because he was the best player at that time and a lot was expected from him.
Younus advised Babar to prioritise his fitness and work ethic, as such opportunities are rare.
Meanwhile, Virat is currently in Chennai for the first Test of the two-match series against Bangladesh, which will start from September 19, while the second Test will be played in Kanpur from September 27.
