Police pursue driver of suspected stolen vehicle

Police are pursuing a suspect driving erratically in the San Fernando Valley area Thursday night.

The driver in the red Toyota Prius is believed to be driving a stolen car.

The suspect was observed running red lights and driving on the wrong side of the road at speeds between 60-70 mph.

At one point, the suspect turned the vehicle into a dead end street. With no way to proceed, the driver struck a metal gate, shattering the front windshield and severely damaging the front and driver's side of the vehicle.

The suspect later headed to the freeway and narrowly missed several vehicles while driving at speeds of more than 100 mph, slicing through traffic.

The chase began at 7:45 p.m., as the driver sped away while multiple San Fernando police squads followed him.

It is said that the Burbank Police also chased this vehicle on the same day, but the police lost it.
