Police say multiple robberies have been reported on Chicago’s North Side


Chicago police are investigating at least four armed robberies that happened within 40 minutes on the North Side Sunday night.

Police said detectives have not yet established any pattern or connection between the robberies, all of which involved three to four men and a white SUV. There are no suspects in custody and police said they are investigating.

The first robbery took place in Lincoln Park at around 11 pm. According to police, four men got out of a white SUV and took a 42-year-old woman’s purse at gunpoint as she walked on the sidewalk in the 900 block of West Armitage Avenue. Police said that the woman was not injured.

About 15 minutes later, three men got out of a white SUV and stole a 31-year-old man’s cellphone and wallet at gunpoint. The victim, who police said was not injured, was walking on the sidewalk in the 1700 block of West Hubbard Street in Westtown.

Police said four men got out of a white SUV and snatched a phone and purse from a 56-year-old man and a 60-year-old woman at gunpoint in Lincoln Park around 11:20 p.m. The victims were walking on the sidewalk in the 600 block of West Armitage Avenue and were not injured, police said.

At 11:40 p.m., police said, four men got out of a white SUV and took a 27-year-old woman’s purse at gunpoint as she walked on the sidewalk in the 1400 block of North Halsted Street in River North. Police said he was not injured.
