Property dealer shot dead by nephew in UP's Ghaziabad: Police

A 55-year-old property dealer was allegedly shot dead by his nephew and his accomplices here, police said on Sunday.

He further said that the deceased's nephew is absconding while his family members have been arrested.

According to the police, the incident took place in Loni Border police station area on Saturday night when a group of people allegedly opened fire on Vikram Mavi, injuring him in the stomach and chest.

Mavi was rushed to Delhi's GTB Hospital where doctors declared him brought dead.

Deputy Commissioner of Police Vivek Chandra Yadav said that the victim's son Sagar Mavi has lodged an FIR against 17 people including the main accused Pawan Bhati.

Yadav said that Bhati Vikram is Mavi's nephew.

Both the property dealer and his nephew had a previous criminal history and five cases each.

Sagar has stated in his FIR that on May 5, Bhati along with other family members allegedly attacked Vikram with sharp weapons.

“Last night my father and I were going from our office in Prem Nagar Colony to Tella Shehbazpur village in Loni border around 9 pm when Bhati along with his accomplices attacked us, during which I was injured. Done, I somehow escaped and my father was killed. Attacked with sharp weapons and shot four times.” DCP Yadav said the police have arrested Bhati's father, mother and wife and another person who was involved in the murder, adding that police teams are trying to nab the main culprit and other accused. .
