In an online post, the Congress leader said, “We are analyzing the unexpected results in Haryana. We will inform the Election Commission about the complaints from several assembly constituencies.”

Mr Gandhi's remarks came a day after the Congress – projected to win a clear majority in Haryana in exit polls – lived up to its expectations and the BJP cruised to its third straight win in the state.

He termed the victory of the National Conference-Congress alliance in Jammu and Kashmir as a “victory of democratic self-respect”.

“My heartfelt thanks to the people of Jammu and Kashmir – India's victory in the state is a victory for the Constitution, a victory for democratic self-respect,” he added.
