Ram Charan and Kiara Advani starrer Game Changer will hit the theatres in December this year.
Dil Raju spoke exclusively to News18 Shosha at Moscow International Film Week.
There is a lot of buzz and curiosity around S Shankar's upcoming directorial venture Game Changer. The film will mark the return of Ram Charan and Kiara Advani to the big screen after Vinaya Vidheya Rama in 2019. Touted to be a vigilante action thriller, the film revolves around an honest IAS officer and his fight against the corrupt political system through fair and impartial elections.
Game Changer has been in the making for the last three years. It went on the floors in October 2021 and the team completed its final schedule in July this year. The makers had also announced that it will be released in theatres in December this year. The first song of the film, Jaragandi, was launched in March. However, recently, several reports started saying that the release of Game Changer might be postponed to 2025 as Ram is reshooting some portions which will delay the post-production.
However, News18 Shosha has now learnt that there is no truth in this story. The producer of the film, Dil Raju, who is screening at the Moscow International Film Week, spoke exclusively to us and cleared up the speculations surrounding Game Changer. He said, “The shooting has been completed and we are releasing the film during Christmas this year.” Expressing confidence that the film will be a box office success, he told us, “I hope this film will change the image of Shankar sir and Ram Charan. It touches upon an aspect of Indian politics and explores a social issue. I hope it will touch the hearts of the audience and be a huge success.”
For Raju, this confidence also comes from the expectation that the audience will get to experience the pre-Robot Shankar in Game Changer. “It is a proper commercial film. Shankar sir has done such films before, but after Robot, he changed his style of storytelling. But with Game Changer, after a long time, he is going to make the kind of film he was known for. It is a typical hero-villain film. It has five songs, which will be worth watching for the audience. We are confident that the film will get very good results,” he said.
Speaking to us earlier, Advani had also revealed that Game Changer will show both her and Charan 'in a very different light'. “It's always a pleasure to work with Ram. He is such a fine actor and a great dancer. We shot together for Game Changer after the release of RRR. And he is still the same. He is very down to earth. He is a humble and wonderful person. That's what makes him a star. It was my dream to be directed by Shankar sir. He is an incredible director. He creates magic onscreen,” she had shared.
