“It was very difficult to know what to do next.” [Resident Evil 7]”But I found it, and honestly, it feels pretty significant. I can't share any details right now, but I hope you're excited for the day when I get to do it,” Nakanishi said.

Nakanishi has a long history with Resident Evil. In addition to Resident Evil 7, which helped revive the series in 2017, Nakanishi directed Resident Evil Mercenaries 3D for the Nintendo 3DS as well as the first Resident Evil Revelations game. Nakanishi also worked as a designer on Resident Evil 5.

Rumors of a potential Resident Evil 9 reveal for 2024 have been rife throughout the years, though Capcom has kept it under wraps until now. In May, IGN also confirmed reports of Resident Evil Zero and Code Veronica remakes. Its most recent releases include the Resident Evil 4 remake and Resident Evil Village, which were touted as Game of the Year contenders in their respective years.

In addition to confirming the development of a new Resident Evil, Capcom also revealed a new Kunitsu-gami demo and the release date of Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster during its summer showcase. You can find the rest of the biggest games coming in 2024 right here.
