Respect for LAC is essential, Jaishankar told Chinese counterpart India News


New Delhi: External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Thursday met his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi. Shanghai Cooperation Organization Summit I Astana, Kazakhstan. “It is important to respect the LAC and ensure peace and harmony in the border areas. All three – mutual respect, mutual sensitivity and mutual interest – will guide our bilateral relations,” the EAM added.

This is the first bilateral meeting after Prime Minister Narendra Modi assumed office for the third time.
The meeting between the two leaders holds significance in the light of four years of frozen relations between the two countries over the standoff in eastern Ladakh.
Chinese President Xi Jinping, Russian President Vladimir Putin and Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif attended the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit in Astana, Kazakhstan.
However, Prime Minister Narendra Modi did not attend the event and India was represented by EAM Jaishankar.
