Sacramento crews stop American River Parkway fire, Business 80 reopens


Crews have extinguished a vegetation fire along the American River Parkway in Sacramento. The fire broke out just west of the Capital City Freeway just before 4:00 p.m. Caltrans cameras at Business 80 and Elvas Avenue showed a thick, black plume of smoke. According to the Sacramento Fire Department, the fire burned three acres. KCRA 3 crews saw the fire burn all the way to the freeway. Both directions of Business 80 were closed briefly at the American River Bridge but were reopened just after 5 p.m. Multiple resources, including a helicopter, were called in to douse the fire.
