The Galaxy S25 launch is still a few months away, but several details about the upcoming flagship lineup have already leaked. Now, more details about the Galaxy S25 Ultra's camera specifications have surfaced.
Previously, it was revealed that the Galaxy S25 Ultra will have the most camera upgrades in the lineup.
Big change in camera specifications of Galaxy S25 Ultra
A few days ago, it was revealed that the Galaxy S25 Ultra will feature a quad-camera setup at the back. It will reportedly feature a 200MP primary rear camera and three 50MP auxiliary (telephoto and ultrawide) cameras. According to tipster @ISAQUES81, the 50MP ultrawide camera on the upcoming flagship phone will be a new version of the 1/2.76-inch ISOCELL JN1 camera sensor. It is slightly smaller than the 12MP ultrawide sensor used on the Galaxy S24 Ultra but has 4x the resolution.
Furthermore, the telephoto camera on the Galaxy S25 Ultra will reportedly feature a 1/3-inch 50MP ISOCELL sensor, which is slightly larger than the 10MP sensor used on the Galaxy S24 Ultra. It will sit behind a 3x optical zoom lens and should have OIS.
All cameras on the phone except the ultrawide camera should have OIS for better shake resistance and better image quality in low light conditions. The Galaxy S25 Ultra may feature a 12MP selfie camera on the front, just like the Galaxy S24 Ultra.
The story continues after our video below.
With these upgrades, all the cameras on the back of the Galaxy S25 Ultra should be able to record 4K 60fps, 4K 120fps, and 8K 30fps videos. All the rear cameras on the phone are expected to use EIS at all resolutions and frame rates.
While we don't think Samsung will offer real-time switching between rear cameras when recording 8K videos, it would be nice to have the feature. This should put the Galaxy S25 Ultra a step ahead of the alleged iPhone 16 Pro Max, which reportedly has a 48MP ultrawide camera.
In comparison, the Galaxy S25 and Galaxy S25+ reportedly have a 50MP primary rear camera and a 12MP front-facing camera, the same as their predecessors. We don't expect to see a 50MP ultrawide camera on those non-Ultra phones, but it would be wise for Samsung to use the same 50MP telephoto camera as the Ultra models on these devices.
