In a controversial statement, Shiv Sena MLA Sanjay Gaekwad has announced that he will pay Rs 11 lakh to Congress leader Rahul Gandhi's tongue-biter for his remarks on scrapping the reservation system.
Maharashtra BJP president Chandrasekhar Bawankule said he did not support the MLA's remarks. The BJP is a part of the Shiv Sena-led government in the state.
“When he was abroad, Rahul Gandhi said he wanted to end the reservation system in India. This has exposed the true face of the Congress,” Mr Gaikwad told reporters before announcing the odd award. .
Mr. Gaikwad said, “During his recent US visit, Rahul Gandhi talked about ending reservations. This shows a mindset that is inherently anti-reservations. Whoever cuts Rahul Gandhi's tongue, I will give him a reward of Rs 11 lakh.” He further said that Baba Sahib Ambedkar in the elections.

In February, Mr Gaikwad claimed that he had hunted a tiger in 1987 and had its tusks tied around his neck.
Soon after, the state forest department sent the alleged tiger tooth for forensic identification and booked Mr. Gaikwad under the Wildlife Protection Act.
