Junaid Khan has been making headlines with his acting debut in the recently released OTT film 'Maharaj'. Directed by Siddharth P Malhotra, the film also stars Jaideep Ahlawat, Sharvari and Shalini Pandey. However, the film faced controversies, with some alleging that it might hurt religious sentiments. In an interview with Pinkvilla, Junaid Khan and director Siddharth P Malhotra opened up about the controversy surrounding 'Maharaj' and expressed gratitude to the judiciary system for allowing the film to release.

The debutant actor admitted that the entire team was tensed while the case was going on in the court. “When the case is in court, you don't know where it will go. It's actually a courtroom drama right in front of you,” the filmmaker said.

Siddharth said that the team of 'Maharaj' watched the court proceedings live on YouTube. He further added, “Kudos to the judiciary that they saw it and judged it for what it is and what our intention was. Because in those debates you can go anywhere. I am really thankful to the judiciary that they let the film come out and said that there is nothing objectionable in it.”

Siddharth hopes that people will see the film for what it is. He feels that as time goes by and people watch 'Maharaj', even those who are already preconceived about the film or are influenced by others who say 'this is not that kind of film, you should watch it', the feedback for the film will slowly change and evolve.

“I am really hoping that people give it a fair chance because the film has been made with a lot of love, there is a six-minute end credit in the film, watch it not for me but for those people, a lot of money and emotions have been put in as well. Watch the film, and give it love only if you like it, if you don't like it, that's okay. Feedback is taken but give it a chance,” Sidharth said.
