Sparks star rookie Cameron Brink carted off court with knee injury against Suns

Los Angeles Sparks rookie center Cameron Brink was carted off the court Tuesday with a knee injury against the Connecticut Sun.

Sparks confirmed at halftime Brink suffered a knee injury and announced she would not return to the game. Head coach Kurt Miller did not provide details on her condition after the game. She will be further evaluated on Wednesday.

The Suns won the game 79-70. Brink played four minutes before suffering an injury. Backup center Li Yueru played 26 minutes for the Sparks and scored 11 points, three assists, one steal and one block.

The injury occurred midway through the first quarter. Brink fell to the court after colliding with Sun forward Brionna Jones while driving to the basket. She landed awkwardly and immediately grabbed her left knee as she fell to the court. She had difficulty standing but got to her feet with help from her teammates.

She managed to limp to the side of the court on her own, but was taken off the court by trainers once she reached the bench.

She was recently selected as a member of Team USA's 3×3 basketball team for the upcoming Paris Olympics.

The Sparks fell to 4-11 with Tuesday's loss. The Sun improved to 13-1, their best mark in the WNBA.
