Steve Martin and Jimmy Kimmel cancel shows due to COVID-19

Some big names were set to perform in Las Vegas, before some unfortunate medical news sidelined the plans.

Steve Martin and Martin Short were due to present a high-profile showroom event at the Wynn Las Vegas this weekend. However, Martin revealed that both had to be canceled due to some crew members testing positive for COVID-19.

“Dear fans and foes,” the comedian posted on Twitter, formerly of X. “Unfortunately, our sold-out shows this Friday and Saturday at the Wynn in Las Vegas have had to be postponed due to a massive COVID outbreak among our crew and one other significant other.”

According to Martin, the show has been rescheduled to mid-December. He said fans’ tickets would be honored and joked that a “debt-moving tax” of $9,000 would be imposed.

COVID-19 has also affected another group of comedians.

Strikeforce 3, the trio of Stephen Colbert, Jimmy Kimmel and Jimmy Fallon, was set to perform at Dolby Live at the Park MGM in Las Vegas on September 23.

That all changed when Kimmel posted an ex revealing that he had tested positive for COVID.

“Okay, Las Vegas, I have COVID, and sadly we have to cancel this weekend’s Strike Force Three show,” the late-night talk show host wrote. “I’ll never be able to live with myself if I get my hometown friends sick.”

“Thank you to everyone who purchased tickets, everyone will receive a full refund and we will try to reschedule if possible.”
