Rajkummar Rao, Shraddha Kapoor, Aparshakti Khurana, Abhishek Banerjee and Pankaj Tripathi-starrer Stree 2 is now the second highest-grossing Hindi film in India. According to film trade analyst Taran Adarsh, the domestic box office collection of Stree 2 is now up 9.5 per cent It grossed ₹583.35 crore after its fifth Monday in theatres. The horror comedy, a sequel to 2018's Stree, is directed by Amar Kaushik and written by Niren Bhatt. Taran tweeted on Tuesday, 'Stree 2 is still in its place. [fifth] At Friday levels, however, the day saw a jump in business, thanks to the BOGO (buy one get one) free ticket offer. The steady figures on Monday suggest that the film is on its way to create history as it will become the first Hindi film to cross the BOGO (buy one get one) free ticket offer. Stree 2 vs Animal Aur Jawan
In comparison, Shah Rukh Khan's 2023 film Jawaan remains the highest-grossing Hindi film in India. According to a 2023 report by Sacnilk.com, the action film has a lifetime collection in India 640.25 crores net.
Jawaan, releasing on 7 September 2023, was Shah Rukh's second film of the year, the other two being Pathan and Dunki. Jawaan also featured Nayanthara and Vijay Sethupathi along with Deepika Padukone in a special role.
Stree 2 has now surpassed the India collections of Ranbir Kapoor starrer Animal. According to a 2024 report by Sacnilk.com, Sandeep Reddy Vanga's film grossed 1.5 crores overall. Its net earnings in India will be Rs 553.87 crore upon its release on December 1, 2024.
Apart from Ranbir, Animal also stars Rashmika Mandanna, Bobby Deol, Anil Kapoor and Tripati Dimri in key roles. The film was released in five languages - Hindi, Tamil, Malayalam, Telugu and Kannada. Though it did earn money, a section of critics and audiences criticised Animal for making misogynistic, violent men heroes.

While Stree revolved around a female ghost who was wronged in her mortal life, its sequel focuses on a headless villain called Sarakata, who is related to the character of the same name.
Stree 2 depicts the story of Sarkata kidnapping women to raise their independent voice. In a key scene of Stree 2, Sarkata announces the beginning of his rule by destroying the statue of Stree, the guardian of Chanderi.

“We had a party and enjoyed a lot. We were confident that the film was good, but we did not expect it to get such a huge number… I am sleep deprived. I could hardly sleep, so first I will sleep and then start thinking about my next film,” the filmmaker told PTI in a recent interview.
