Currently, WhatsApp allows you to transfer data from one Android device to another Android device, from one iPhone to another iPhone, from one Android device to an iPhone, and from one iPhone to an Android device. Unfortunately, each of the four ways to transfer data has a different process. Also, some of these processes require iCloud or a data cable, and many people find these processes complicated and difficult.
The story continues after the video…
Well, WhatsApp is working on introducing a single (read universal) way to transfer data between devices of the same platform or different platforms. More importantly, it could eliminate the need for iCloud and data cables, and could be much easier and straightforward than the existing methods. According to a new report by WABetaInfo, the latest beta version of WhatsApp for Android (version 2.24.13.6) offers a new way to transfer chats to another device.
WhatsApp has found a universal way to transfer data to Android devices or iPhones
In the current stable version of the app (version 2.24.11.79), when you go to the section to transfer chats, it tells you that you can use the section to transfer data to another Android phone. However, the latest beta version of the app doesn't mention Android anywhere, suggesting that you can use the same method to transfer data to an iPhone. The new method doesn't mention iCloud anywhere, which means the cloud storage platform won't be required for data transfer.
This new method will make it easier to transfer WhatsApp data between two devices on the same or different platforms. Meta may soon release a new beta version of WhatsApp for iOS which should also have this new method. This will give us a better idea of how this feature works. It is expected that Meta will make the new method of data transfer in WhatsApp available to the public in the next few months.
