Rohit and Kohli ended their T20 careers on a high note

Both Rohit and Kohli ended their T20 careers on a high note for India with the T20 World Cup win. After receiving the Player of the Match award, Kohli said that now is the time for young talent to take the team forward.

“It's time for the next generation to take the T20 game forward. The wait to win an ICC tournament has been long for us. You look at a player like Rohit, he has played 9 T20 World Cups and this is my sixth. He deserves it,” Kohli said after winning the T20 World Cup 2024.

Rohit, on the other hand, said he feels it is the right time for him to move away from the format after winning the trophy.

Rohit said, “That was also my last match. Honestly, ever since I started playing this format, I have been enjoying it. There couldn't be a better time to say goodbye to this format. I have enjoyed every moment of it. I started my career for India playing in this format. This is what I wanted to do. Win the cup and say goodbye.”

Both Kohli and Rohit are expected to continue playing both ODIs and Test matches for India.
