West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Saturday slammed Governor CV Anand Bose for molestation allegations against her.
Addressing an election rally in Saptagram, West Bengal, Banerjee said Bose should explain why he should not step down. The CM also asserted that she will not step inside the Raj Bhavan as long as Bose remains the governor.
“Governor says 'Dedigiri' (tall elephant) will not be tolerated… But, I say Mr Governor, your 'Dadagiri' will not work now,” the TMC supremo told PTI. Said by I. “Bose should explain why he should not resign after such allegations were made against him,” he said.
He also referred to the release of CCTV footage of May 2, the day a temporary employee in his office accused the governor of sexual assault at the Raj Bhavan.
Bose recently organized a screening to clear the air on molestation allegations leveled against him. However, this landed Bose in a new controversy, as the complainant accused him of revealing his identity.
“The governor has released an edited video. I have seen the entire footage and its content is shocking. I have got another video… Your behavior is shameful,” the chief minister said, according to PTI. said
“I will not go to Raj Bhavan unless he is the governor… I prefer to meet him on the streets,” she said.
What are the allegations against CV Bose?
On 2 May, Bose was accused of molestation on two occasions by a temporary employee of the Raj Bhavan. The next day, the Kolkata Police constituted an inquiry team to investigate the allegations. Police said they sought CCTV footage from the Raj Bhavan and also planned to speak to some Raj Bhavan staff.
On 5 May, Bose asked the Raj Bhavan staff to ignore the police inquiry, citing Article 361 of the Constitution, which provides that no action against the President and the Governor of a state while in office shall be made. Criminal action cannot be taken.
“Under the circumstances, all staff/employees including part-time, temporary, DRW (Daily Rated Workers) or persons engaged in any manner at the Raj Bhavan are directed to ignore any communication from the police in this regard and It is directed to refrain from making any statement online, offline, in person, over phone or otherwise,” Bose said in a letter to Raj Bhavan staff that was uploaded on social media. had gone.
