The Bombay High Court on Tuesday ordered the release of the juvenile accused in the Pune Porsche accident case. The court annulled the remand as illegal.

A Porsche, allegedly driven by a 17-year-old, crashed into two software engineers, a motorcycle, in the city in May.

The accused youth was remanded by the Juvenile Justice Board (JJB) after clamoring for immediate bail in the case.

A month after the accident, a bench of Justices Bharti Dangre and Manjusha Deshpande granted relief saying that though the accident was unfortunate, the minor cannot be placed in an observation home. The court has ordered the Juvenile Justice Board to release the youth.

As the minor's parents and grandfather are currently behind bars, custody of the minor has been handed over to his paternal grandmother.
