The IMD has issued a warning of heavy rain in North West and North East India for the next 5 days.


The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on June 29 has forecast heavy to very heavy rainfall over the next four to five days over northwest and northeast India.

The weather office said the low pressure area is currently located over northwest Bay of Bengal, bordering north Odisha-Gangetic West Bengal coasts.

Cyclones have formed at lower tropospheric levels over northeastern Rajasthan, eastern Uttar Pradesh bordering Bihar and northwestern Uttar Pradesh, it added.

An east-west trough extends over northwest Uttar Pradesh into a low pressure area.

Due to these weather systems, isolated heavy rains are expected over Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan from June 29 to July 3, the IMD said.

Chhattisgarh, Gangetic West Bengal, Jharkhand and Odisha are likely to receive heavy rainfall on June 29-30 and Bihar from June 30 to July 2.

The IMD has also predicted very heavy rain at isolated places over Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Uttar Pradesh, East Rajasthan and West Madhya Pradesh during this period.

In northeast, a cyclonic circulation over northeast Assam with light to moderate rain, thundershower, lightning, and isolated heavy to very heavy rain over sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, I will bring. and Tripura in the next five days.

Isolated very heavy rain is expected over Arunachal Pradesh on June 29-30 and Assam and Meghalaya on June 29.

The Meteorological Department has forecast isolated heavy rain over Saurashtra, Kutch, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, and coastal and south interior Karnataka from June 29 to July 1.

Heavy rain is expected over Gujarat, Goa, and Central Maharashtra from June 29 to July 3, Konkan, Goa, and Central Maharashtra will experience isolated heavy rain from June 30 to July 3.

The IMD also said that the Southwest Monsoon has advanced over the rest of East Uttar Pradesh and some areas of West Uttar Pradesh on Saturday.

It added that conditions are favorable for monsoon to advance over West Rajasthan, Haryana, Chandigarh, more parts of Punjab and rest of West Uttar Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh and Jammu in the next two to three days.
