A large portion of central Illinois, including Sangamon County, is under threat of severe thunderstorms until 7 p.m. Tuesday, according to the National Weather Service in Lincoln.
The NWS cited “damaging winds” as the main concern.
There is a possibility of thunderstorms from Tuesday afternoon till evening.
Hail is also possible with the storms, with the heaviest rain possible west of Interstate Highway 55.

City Water, Light and Power reported more than 2,600 power outages due to high winds that hit Springfield after noon Tuesday.
Other counties under the NWS's watch included Brown, Cass, Christian, Greene, Macoupin, Menard, Montgomery, Morgan, Schuyler and Scott.
