The Supreme Court's decision comes days after, on Friday last week, Arvind Kejriwal was granted interim bail to campaign in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections till June 1, saying that the case related to the justification of his arrest. Currently under consideration.

A bench of Justices Sanjeev Khanna and Dipankar Dutta ordered Arvind Kejriwal to surrender on June 2 and barred him from visiting the Chief Minister's office and the Delhi Secretariat as a bail condition.

“The power to grant interim bail is commonly exercised in many cases. Interim bail is granted on the facts of each case. This case is no exception,” the court said.

The order comes as a major campaign boost for the Aam Aadmi Party, which is contesting all seats in Punjab and four in Delhi in alliance with the Congress.

AAP national convenor Arvind Kejriwal was arrested on March 21 in the Diljhi liquor policy scam case. He has challenged the validity of his arrest by the Enforcement Directorate.
