Thieves who were looting opened fire on jewelery store employee

Authorities announced Monday that one of five men has been arrested after the group attacked a Manhattan Beach jewelry store in broad daylight last Friday, prompting a store employee to scare away the suspects. Fired the gun inside.

Officers from the Manhattan Beach, Gardena and El Segundo Police Departments responded to the report of a robbery at Prestige Jewelers in the 3000 block of North Sepulveda Boulevard at approximately 12:40 a.m. on October 6.

“Five suspects, described as wearing hooded sweatshirts, used hammers to break into jewelry showcases and a store employee used a firearm to shoot at the suspects,” Manhattan Beach police said in a news release. Used.”

The group of robbers fled the store and were last seen traveling southbound on Sepulveda Boulevard.

Police said that although no one was injured during the incident, the suspects managed to loot some items from the shop.

This is not the first time that thieves have stolen from the shop. In August 2014, another group of hooded gangsters with hammers robbed a jewelry store, which is inside the Manhattan Village shopping mall. In that instance, thieves took approximately $250,000 worth of Rolex watches and diamonds.

Following a thorough investigation of the most recent robbery at Prestige Jewelers, the Gardena Police Department, in cooperation with Manhattan Beach authorities, arrested a man involved in a string of robberies on Monday, the departments said in a joint release.

Authorities also released the above image taken from the store’s surveillance cameras in the hopes that the public may be able to identify other suspects involved in the crime.
