A woman stabbed to death by her ex-husband in Marietta, GA has been identified as a Morehouse School of Medicine resident.
According to WSB-TV2, Dr. Samantha Woolery unfortunately died after she was attacked and stabbed inside her apartment in the Lakeside Town Center complex on Williams Drive. The attack happened sometime over the weekend, police said. Woolery's co-workers apparently became suspicious when she didn't show up for work and decided to speak up. The door was locked but was opened when his friends arrived, police said. After the murder, Mickey Woolery allegedly returned to his primary residence in Carmel, Indiana and fled to Georgia, according to detectives. A number of addresses were searched by detectives from both agencies working together. According to detectives, Woolery attempted to flee before being apprehended. Authorities in Georgia are currently trying to arrange Woolley's extradition.
Channel 2's Tisha Fernandez confirmed that Woolley recently graduated from Western Michigan University Homer Stryker MD School of Medicine and is completing her residency at Morehouse School of Medicine. Fernandes spoke off-camera to the medical students, who said they were shocked to hear that anyone would hurt Woolery. Minnie Mitchell noted that the medical community at Morehouse School of Medicine is quite tight-knit. “We're very close,” Mitchell said. “I personally haven't heard of it, but that's because I'm like a new resident, so I'm sure other residents know about it.”
On Monday afternoon, Mickey Anthony Woolery was arrested in Indiana and charged with felony murder, felony aggravated assault, felony aggravated battery, felony possession of a weapon during a felony, and felony aggravated manslaughter.
