Amid the political controversy over the rape-murder of a doctor in Kolkata, a quip by a senior Trinamool Congress leader has drawn a hilarious response from a CPM leader.
Trinamool Congress spokesperson Kunal Ghosh posted a picture on his X account today. In the picture, Kunal Ghosh is seen posing with a mouse in his left hand. The caption in Bengali read, “His name is Shatrup.” The comment was seen as a jibe at CPM West Bengal state committee member Shatrup Ghosh.
Amid the political storm surrounding the rape and murder of a 31-year-old doctor at Kolkata's RG Kar Medical College and Hospital last month, Kunal Ghosh and Shatrup Ghosh are doing business.
A Trinamool spokesperson recently released an audio clip, alleging a conspiracy to attack protesting doctors to defame the Mamata Banerjee government. Soon after that, Kolkata Police arrested CPM leader Kalatan Dasgupta in this connection. Shatrup Ghosh had criticized Kunal Ghosh for the arrest of his party colleague.

Today, soon after Kunal Ghosh's post on X, Shatrup Ghosh gave a response on Facebook. “Kunal da, for naming the free rat Shatrup. As a thank you, I name the rabbit imprisoned with you Kunal Ghosh,” he said in a Bengali post.
The CPM leader was referring to Kunal Ghosh's time in jail when he was named as an accused in the 2013 Sharda chit fund scam that rocked West Bengal.
The interesting reply has drawn applause on social media, with many congratulating the CPM leader.
Earlier this month, Kunal Ghosh was in the news for a hilarious comeback over a BJP leader's comment, in which he threatened to pull his hair.
“Pappia Adhikari, a former actress, then CPM and then BJP leader, has publicly threatened to slap me, pull my hair. My hair has fallen out. It is not right to look down on it. Help develop,” he said in a post in Bengali on X.
