According to the victim's wife, the accused Abdul Rehman's identity was brainwashing her husband Shiresh Ojha to change his faith and marry another woman.
Police said Ojha was under stress and anxiety after his consultancy firm in Ghaziabad suffered huge losses in one year.
On interrogation, Rahman, who worked with local medicine, told the police that the victim Shresh Ojha approached him five months ago to cure his wife of kidney disease as she had been suffering from kidney disease for over 12 years. She was on dialysis.
“Rehman, who is also a Tanana practitioner, said that the victim was under stress and hence advised him to change his religion and marry another woman and allegedly paid him Rs 7 lakh over a period of five months. He was arrested after the victim's wife lodged a complaint against him,” said Sridra Nath Tiwari, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Ghaziabad Rural.
“His wife became suspicious after hearing a voice note in which a man was congratulating her husband on becoming part of a new family,” Tiwari said.
