UP: Ghaziabad police film Instagram reel with property dealer in police uniform, suspended after videos go viral

In a surprising turn of events, two sub-inspectors from Uttar Pradesh's Ghaziabad were suspended on Friday for filming several Instagram reels with a property dealer. Videos that surfaced on social media showed officers apparently protecting the dealer and raised concerns about his behavior. Videos that went viral included scenes of the dealer arriving on the under-construction Delhi-Dehradun highway in a luxury car, accompanied by uniformed officers. Another video showed the dealer sitting in his office while officers recorded a reel. Notably, the sub-inspectors wore their official uniforms during filming, despite a recent directive from the UP Police to ban such activities. ACP Surya Balimuria confirmed the suspension of trainee sub-inspectors Dharmendra and Ritesh, who were posted at Ankur Vihar in March. Property dealer Sartaj has been arrested and his involvement is under investigation.
