Oh Explosion in indoor air conditioner unit A huge fire broke out in a flat in Ghaziabad's Merlin Society in Uttar Pradesh on Tuesday night.
This was the second AC explosion-related fire in Ghaziabad in two weeks. No injuries or casualties were reported.
Six fire tenders had to be deployed to control the fire. Two fire tenders were deployed from Vaishali, two from Sahibabad and two from Kotwali fire station.
According to a report, 518 fire incidents have been recorded in Ghaziabad in April and May. Of these, 32 fires were allegedly caused by short circuits or explosions in AC units.
Last week, five members of a family, including a seven-month-old boy and a seven-year-old girl, died after a massive fire broke out in a residential building in Behta Hajipur area of Ghaziabad. Police said the fire started due to a short circuit.
In the first week of June, a fire broke out in a house in Ghaziabad after an air conditioner compressor exploded. A part of the house was gutted due to the fire.
Residents of the house climbed to the roof of the building to escape the fire. After that, the fire department personnel rescued them.
A month ago, four flats of Arihant Harmony High Rise in Ghaziabad's Indirapuram were heavily damaged in a fire. The fire was probably caused by overheating in the diesel generator (DG) set.
The development comes at a time when northern India, including Ghaziabad, is reeling from an unprecedented heat wave, forcing residents to seek comfort in ACs. Running the AC continuously for hours causes the compressor to overheat, leading to an explosion.
