Weather Update: IMD has predicted heavy rainfall in these states during the next 4 days. Check the forecast here


The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted heavy rainfall till October 12 in many parts of North-East, East, South and North-West India. According to the IMD, heavy rain is forecast today over Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya as well as sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, Tamil Nadu, South Interior Karnataka and other regions. Apart from this, the Meteorological Department has predicted light rain at some places along with thundershowers in Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand today i.e. October 9.

In Delhi, the Meteorological Department has forecast partly cloudy skies with light drizzle on October 9 and 10.

In Sikkim, 33 bodies, including nine army men, have so far been recovered from the mud and debris that ravaged Sikkim after floods in the Teesta river. Officials said on Sunday that more than 105 people were still missing and the search was on. PTI. Jalpaiguri district administration in West Bengal said that they have so far recovered 40 bodies from the Teesta River downstream, of which 10 bodies have been identified so far, officials said. According to the Sikkim State Disaster Management Authority (SSDMA), 60,870 people were affected by the flash floods caused by the cloudburst early Wednesday. According to the SSDMA, 2,563 people have been rescued from different parts of the state so far.

Meanwhile, Haryana’s Kurukshetra received double the average rainfall while Punjab’s Tarn Taran received 80 percent more rains during this year’s monsoon, keeping in line with normal for both states, according to Met department data. Monsoon has withdrawn from both the states including their common capital Chandigarh on September 30.

Northeast India:

Heavy rain with thundershowers is likely over Arunachal Pradesh and Assam and Meghalaya on October 8 and 9.

East India:

– According to the IMD, isolated heavy rain with thundershowers is very likely over sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim on October 8 and 9, followed by deceleration.

South India:

-Thunderstorm and lightning are likely to occur in Tamil Nadu during October 8-11, says the Meteorological Department. South Interior Karnataka during 8-10 October and Kerala 9-12 October.

North West India:

-According to the IMD, light rain with thundershowers is forecast at some places in Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand on October 9.

Central and Western India:

– The Meteorological Department said that there is no significant weather over the Central and West Indian regions during the next four days.
