WhatsApp has started rolling out its much-awaited Events feature for group chats, following on from the community-focused release last month.

GSM Arena has confirmed that the feature has now been rolled out to regular group chats on the WhatsApp platform after initially being rolled out to Communities.

As per a report obtained by GSM Arena, the feature has been spotted in the beta version 2.24.14.9 of WhatsApp for Android, which marks the start of its wider availability.

This update introduces a new “Events” icon, accessible through the paperclip menu within group chats, allowing users to create and manage events directly within their chat groups.

According to GSM Arena, once the event is created, group members can view and respond to the invitation, while only the event creator has the ability to modify the event details.

Notably, WhatsApp ensures that all group events are protected by end-to-end encryption, thereby maintaining user privacy and security.

While WhatsApp has not revealed any specific timeline for the global rollout of the Events feature across all group chats, users interested in exploring this functionality can participate in the beta programme for early access.

WhatsApp has introduced some more features on its platform.

Users can also experience larger group video calls and improved business tools after the recent update.

The biggest change is the increase in the participant limit for group video calls.

Previously, calls could include up to eight participants, but can now include up to 32 participants, making it easier for larger groups to connect virtually.

This update applies to both mobile and desktop users.

Apart from improvements to video calls, WhatsApp is also introducing new features powered by Meta AI. These AI tools are designed to improve the user experience for both individuals and businesses.

One such feature is the expanded availability of AI-powered chat functions. Previously in limited testing, these features are now available in a dozen countries.

Users can experience AI chatbot interactions and even create custom AI stickers.

Businesses are also getting a boost on WhatsApp with the introduction of Meta Verified.

The purpose of this program is to provide businesses with a way to demonstrate their legitimacy and build trust with customers.
