The Indian cricket team on Thursday wore black armbands during the T20 World Cup 2024 Super Eight match against Afghanistan in Barbados as a mark of respect to former India pacer David Johnson, who passed away in Bengaluru earlier in the day.
He was 52 years old.
Johnson played two Tests in 1996 and took three wickets.
His domestic career includes 39 first-class matches in which he has taken 125 wickets. He has also taken five wickets four times and 10 wickets once.
Johnson was one of the fastest Indian bowlers and his performances in domestic cricket – he took 10 wickets for 152 runs against Kerala in the 1995–96 Ranji Trophy season – helped him break into the Indian team.
