Gurugram: A 42-year-old man was allegedly murdered by his wife and her brother in Gurugram on the intervening night of September 17 and 18.
The woman and her brother killed the victim because he (the husband) suspected the woman of having an extramarital affair and beat her.
Both of them were caught by the police from Sultanpur village of Gurugram on Monday. The police had announced a reward of Rs 10,000 for his arrest.
The victim, Shyam Bihari, a resident of Uttar Pradesh's Sitapur district, lives with his wife Shanti in a rented house in Basai Industrial Area under Sector-9A police station limits.
Gurugram police spokesperson Sandeep Kumar said that Shyam Bihari suspected his wife of having an extramarital affair and used to beat her after drinking alcohol.
On the intervening night of September 17 and 18, the victim came home in a drunken state and started harassing her. Shanti's brother Kamlesh was also present when Shyam Bihari started harassing his wife. The brother and sister attacked Shyam Bihari and strangled him to death and fled the scene.
“To avoid police action, the suspects kept changing their whereabouts, but after a tip-off, the crime branch team of Sector-10 nabbed the suspect from Sultanpur village,” Kumar said.
Police have also recovered a towel and sandu (vest) used in the crime. The suspects will be produced in a local court for further questioning.
In connection with this matter, the police have registered a case of murder in Sector 9A police and started investigation.
