Xavi Hernandez was not happy with his team’s defending after seeing Barcelona drop points against Real Mallorca in La Liga on Tuesday.

The Catalans had to come from behind twice to rescue a point at Son Moix and maintain their unbeaten start to the season.

What the Barcelona coach said about all this:

“I think the problem has been that they went ahead because of our mistake, and when we were better and when we should have turned the game around before the end of the half, then another mistake came and the match became very complicated.

“These are mistakes that should not happen, especially in such a tight and intense match. We had four or five clear chances, but the problem is that we conceded two clear mistakes.

“We must improve the defence. Last year gave us a lot of strength. We are not bad today but there are two specific mistakes that should not be made. Because of this we suffered a two-point loss today.”

Xavi now has a lot to think about defensively ahead of his team’s next game. Sevilla host Sevilla on Friday in La Liga before Barcelona travel to Porto in the Champions League.
