Addressing the nation on International Yoga Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that the world is seeing yoga as an agent of global well-being. The Prime Minister was scheduled to address the nation on the banks of the Dal Lake on the occasion of the 10th International Yoga Day, but the event was shifted indoors due to incessant rain.
The Prime Minister is now doing yoga in 30-minute sessions. This year's theme, “Yoga for Self and Society”, emphasizes the important role of yoga in promoting individual well-being and social harmony.
Over the years, PM Modi has led Yoga Day celebrations at various iconic locations, including Delhi's Kartaviya Path, Chandigarh, Dehradun, Ranchi and Jabalpur. Last year, he led events at the UN headquarters in New York, which is expected to draw more attention to the Srinagar programme.
