YouTuber Ben Potter, better known online as Comixtorian, has died in an “unfortunate accident”.

He was 40 years old.

“Two days ago, on June 8, my husband, Ben Potter, died in an unfortunate accident,” his wife, Nathalie Potter, Posted A post was made on his ex's account on Monday.

“To many of you, he was the Comicstorian, giving voice to stories across many different mediums. To his loved ones, he was one of the nicest and most supportive individuals anyone could hope for,” the grieving widow wrote to his fans.

Nathalie explained how her husband was their family's “rock” behind the camera, and always “tried his best to make everyone laugh and make sure they were okay.”

“As a husband, a son, a brother, a friend and even as a stranger, Ben was loving and genuine. He was someone who listened to and made time for his loved ones,” she wrote.

“His channel was one of his greatest accomplishments, and while we all need time to mourn him, I know he wouldn't have wanted it to end this way.”

Potter's wife revealed that she and her team plan to keep the channel running to “honor great people by continuing to tell their great stories, while also keeping the memory of our own superheroes alive.”

“We supported each other in everything we wanted to do and I’m not going to stop now.”

The cause of his death is unknown.

Potter launched her YouTube channel in 2014 and has amassed over three million subscribers in the ensuing years.

He expanded his love for comics by creating audio dramas for his YouTube channel.

The self-proclaimed comic buff also shared videos on the channel in which he expressed his opinions, reviews, and in-depth analysis about various comic books and superhero products, especially Marvel and DC movies.

The superhero enthusiast also had a gaming channel called Eligible Monster Gaming with nearly 200K subscribers where he would discuss the “video game lore” of fan-favorite franchises like “Assassin’s Creed” and “Resident Evil.”

Potter also had a self-titled vlog and manga channel called Mangastorean, which featured comics or graphic novels from Japan.

His opinions and insight on comics and gaming made him a beloved figure online, with many of his fans expressing sadness at the news of his death.

“He did so much for so many. I'm completely shocked to hear this. Rest in peace, Ben,” a fan commented on Nathalie's post.

“I'm so sorry for your loss. Ben was a huge inspiration to me. This is truly heartbreaking,” another shared.

“My heart completely broke reading this, oh my god… I'm so sorry for your loss, Nathalie. Ben's name carried a lot of sway in the comic book community and is the main reason why so many of us associated with the characters we know today. May his soul rest in peace,” another fan wrote.

Potter's last video, “Why DC Reboots Beat Marvel”, was posted on June 7 – the day before his death – and has already received more than 160 thousand views and more than 7 thousand comments.

Many people have continued to offer their condolences and wrote heartfelt messages in the comments section of his last video to explain why they were his fans.
